BANCO CENTRAL - NEW MILLENIUM


The Central Bank of Honduras (Banco Central de Honduras) with the purpose of commemorating the 50th year of its founding, the arrival of the new millennium, and the praising of the reconstruction activities in which our country finds itself has issued a new L. 20.00 banknote.

The following new elements incorporated into the banknotes are highlighted:


1. Panoramic view of the present day Presidential House

2. Figure of the first Maya govenor of Copan, K'inich Yax K'uk Mo'

3. Signature of the Constitutional President of the Republic, Ingeniero Carlos Roberto Flores, as a numismatic element

Sculpture alluding to work, union, and effort, incorporated in the feminine form, and

The legend "A NEW HONDURAS IS BEING RAISED" and COMMEMORATIVE YEAR 2000"

4. Double hidden image

5. Silk threads


Previously designed banknotes will continue circulating and will be accepted for the amount of their nominal value. There will not be any time limit nor any requirement to exchange old series for the new series.
